I write to share some of the memories that I have made in over ninety years


Just An Old Man
I'm not as active as I used to be.
But I still have a memory.
I can still recall a lot from the past,
and realize why time is so fast.

I can sit and write and be at ease,
but I cannot run, it hurts my knees.
I am not rich, but nor am I poor.
And I welcome every knock upon my door.

Not to be able to do as I please
is a fact that I don't handle with ease.
I'm just an old man, and try not to show it.
So I try to share memories by way of a poet.

Not every one reads poetry, this I know,
so the only people that read this will know it's so.
A visit from a friend is something that I cherish.
It could make a memory that I'll forever perish.

If memories and friends were made of gold,
I would have wealth, a limit untold.
But I'm just an old man in my easy chair.
recalling good memories and not going anywhere.

Thank you, I stopped writing poetry for quite a while but with ai making songs, it's renewed my interest as I can literally bring my poetry to life. What a great poem!!!
I feel the same way, Some mornings I feel down and think I can do nothing right
but then I go on FFP, and look for someone to boost my moral by simply saying
they like my poem. It makes a difference on how I face the day.

I've never liked my reflection
It always glares back at me
As if in life's selection
I was never meant to be

I can't look into the eyes
Of the eyes in the mirror
Afraid it might despise
Me and pull me nearer

On the inside looking out
To the outside looking in
On which side am I now
Is it me or the one in my skin
I just want to be
What I want to see
My reflection set free
Of the infection of me
They say beauty is in the eyes
Of the one who is beholding
Me looking at me looking at me with sighs
As my world keeps imploding

All my friends say I'm beautiful
They say I'm quite a catch
But my mirror is dutiful
With one glanced it's all scratch

Boys always follow me
Men whistle in passing
But in reflection it's a fallacy
"They're only harassing"

On the inside looking out
To the outside looking in
On which side am I now
