This poem is a heartfelt tribute to parents who sacrifice their entire lives for the happiness and future of their children. Usually, the sky is seen as something above us, representing dreams and greatness. But in this poem, the parents are portrayed as even greater than the sky because they become the support system that allows their children to rise high in life.

I've struggled with my mental health for several years and have experienced periods of both overwhelming highs and crushing lows. Writing has become a way for me to express feelings that can be difficult to explain out loud. This poem was written to capture what those emotional swings feel like from the inside, and to remind myself that even during the darkest moments, there is still a part of me that wants to keep going.

I rise like lightning --
skin humming, heartbeat running ahead of me,
thoughts a river that forgot how to rest.
The world glows gold and I glow with it,

I was diagnosed with cancer last November, I had surgery and radiotherapy for weeks after. Whilst having my treatment, my husband was taken ill with stomach problems, he was subsequently admitted to hospital where they operated on him, that's when they found out that he also had cancer. I was lucky as I recovered and am now in remission. my husband was told his was inoperable and they gave him three months to live. we had been together for forty years. I am now trying to get my life together.

It was seven lonely months ago
that you said your last goodbye,
the angels took you in their arms
and I was left alone to cry.

Wouldn't it be nice if we could have all the blessings we wished for? Here are a few blessings that would make life a little more pleasant and peaceful.

May our challenges be triumphs
Our accomplishments are huge
Our strengths are many, our fears are few.
Have peace and contentment that can't be destroyed,

After an operation, what was supposed to be two weeks of extreme pain has stretched into seven, and it still remains. I feel pressured to be healed, to be back to normal but I'm not. Somewhere, I lost who I used to be. The pain pulled me into a deep depression, changing me in ways I never expected. Every day is a fight to find myself again. My husband, "Sir," carried me through it, steady and strong but in the middle of it, I began to disappear, and at times, he did too.

This poem highlights the hidden pain of abuse and harassment faced by both girls and boys today. Girls stay alert to danger, while boys are told to "be strong" and hide their wounds. Through vivid imagery and contrasting perspectives, it shows that suffering has no gender. For me, it's personal--it reflects real stories and fears. The poem is a call to speak, to see, and to act so every young person can live with safety, dignity, and hope.

A poem about two souls who crawled out of the same fire, believing love could be the water that cooled them. They promised safety, swore to guard each other's hearts, but life's smallest fractures, an argument, a misstep, a moment of fear, opened doors to the darkness they thought they'd outrun. It's a poem of love trying to stay whole while the past keeps reaching for the edges.

Shane moved through the night like a ghost in his skin,
Chasing sparks of attention to quiet the din.
Not for praise, not for love, not for fleeting acclaim
Just to silence the darkness that whispered his name.

We've all experienced heartbreak, disappointment and pain... and we often, without even realizing it, build up defenses in an attempt to protect ourselves from difficult feelings or emotions. We all have our own unique variation of "The Brick Wall"... (Authored in 1997)

The Brick Wall is confusion, that's deep within your heart,
Confusion that's so powerful, it can tear itself apart.

The Brick Wall is that fear, the fear of your own flaws,

This poem is free verse, using stanzas that are 3 lines long. It refers to how our bodies change as we get older, with various aches and pains! However, it uses personification to explain these changes as a hand passing over us. It is not all bad news, though, as we still feel young on the inside and can find joy in life! I hope it will speak to many people!

My son has a great imagination, and once he starts playing it can be hard to get him to stop and come to the table. I wrote this poem in a strong, rhythmic call-and-response style, inspired by the back-and-forth many parents recognise at mealtimes. The poem features food and dishes from Southeast Asia.
I'm an Australian teacher and writer living in Thailand. On weekends, you'll usually find me crafting cardboard wands or baking chocolate cake with my children.
